About the team
Polar Capital established the European team in June 2003 when Robert Gurner joined from Ennismore Fund Management, bringing with him over seven years’ experience in European smaller companies. Justin Waine joined in 2005 from Cazenove , Michael Vise in October 2005, who has a strong background in risk management and Andrew Marsh who joined in October 2006 with three years experience in European Smaller Companies.

Rob Gurner – Fund Manager |

|
Rob graduated from Exeter University in 1995 with a Masters Degree in Finance and holds a degree in Economics from the University of Wales. Before joining Barings in 1997 he had been an analyst at Royal & Sun Alliance. He has been investing on a long/short basis in European smaller companies since January 1999 when he was a founder employee at Ennismore Fund Management.

Justin Waine – Fund Manager |

|
Justin joined Polar Capital in January 2005 from Cazenove where he was part of the German and Swiss small and mid-cap equities team working as a research analyst. He joined Cazenove as a graduate trainee in 1998 following a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University.

Andrew Marsh – Fund Manager |
|||||
|
Andy Marsh is a chartered accountant with over 10 years investment experience in European companies. Before joining Polar was head of equity sales for the European Smaller Companies team at Investec. Prior to this he held senior positions in the research teams at both Merrill Lynch and ING Financial markets. Graduated in 1994 from Sheffield University with a BSc in Computer Science.

Michael Vise – Investment Analyst |

|
Michael is a chartered accountant and CFA charter holder. He graduated from the University of Cape Town with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting in 1996. He gained five years audit and accounting experience with Deloitte & Touche in the Cape Town, San Francisco and Dublin offices. Mike joined Polar Capital in April 2003 as Operations Manager where he further developed and managed the trade support, investment compliance, performance and risk management functions. He joined the European team in October 2005 where he has focused on company research and idea generation.
