James Salter – Fund Manager

James has over 19 years of investment experience. He began his career at Foreign & Colonial where he was promoted to an assistant fund manager prior to leaving to join Martin Currie to take joint responsibility for the Japanese funds in the capacity of a director. Prior to establishing the Japanese franchise at Bonfield, which he transferred to Polar Capital, he was the Senior Fund Manager of the Schroder Japan Growth Fund plc.

Toshio Konishi – Head of Research, Tokyo

Toshio has 18 years experience in Japanese equities. He joined Polar Capital in November 2006, from Schroder Investment Management in Tokyo (1995-2006), where he was a director and senior analyst for the Japan team. Prior to that he was an analyst at Swiss Bank Corp (1992-1995), and Yamaichi Securities (1989-1992).

Tomomi Morita – Analyst, Tokyo

Tomomi is the team’s analyst based in Tokyo with over ten years’ experience. She was a senior fund manager at AXA Rosenberg, Tokyo (2000 to 2003), and analyst at Baring Asset Management (1996 to 2000).

Gerard Cawley – Analyst, UK 

Gerard gained five years’ experience in Japanese equities as an assistant fund manager at Schroder Investment Management prior to joining Polar Capital in January 2005. Gerard will be focusing on large cap stocks and will initially be based in the London office. He is a graduate of DCU Business School, Dublin and became a holder of the CFA in 2004.

Masahiko Komatsu – Analyst, Tokyo

Masahiko has nearly 10 years experience in bottom-up research of Japanese equities. He joined Polar in December 2006 from Schroder Investment Management where he was a senior analyst responsible for coverage of predominantly domestic sectors of the economy (including large and mid cap stocks). Prior to this he was an analyst at Prudential Asset Management (1997-2000).
