Polar Capital established the UK team in 2001 when Philip Hardy joined from Schroders bringing with him 17 years of investment experience.


Philip Hardy – Fund Manager
Philip founded the UK team at Polar Capital with the launch of the UK Fund in November 2001. Prior to joining Polar Capital, Philip spent 13 years at Schroders, where he was a founding member of their Specialist UK Equity Team and lead manager of the Schroder UK Equity Fund from 1992 to 1999. During his last two years at Schroders, Philip managed large cap, Pan-European assets for predominantly North American clients.

Nick Shenton – Analyst
Nick works with Philip on portfolio construction and top-down idea generation and performs fundamental, bottom-up analysis on stocks and sectors. He joined Polar Capital in July 2007 from F&C Investments where he began his career as a graduate in September 2003. He worked as an Analyst and Assistant Fund Manager on the UK and latterly Pan-European equities desks, with a general remit to find investment opportunities across the markets. He graduated with a BA (Hons) in Economics with French from the University of Nottingham in 2002 and is also a CFA charterholder.
